Glitter

Our biodegradable glitter is made from precision-cut flakes of a cellulose-based biopolymer film, derived from sustainably sourced hardwoods (primarily eucalyptus). Each flake has a renewable cellulose base, a thin aluminum layer for sparkle, and a cosmetic-grade pigment for color. Unlike plastic-based glitters that persist as microplastic pollution, this film naturally degrades in soil, freshwater, and marine environments under the right conditions.

Biodegradable glitter uses sustainable plant-cellulose sparkles that break down naturally over time, while mica glitter is made from natural minerals for an ultra-dazzling, more permanent shine. Both are skin-friendly and wash away safely, so the choice comes down to whether you want an eco-conscious, compostable option or a more traditional mineral-based sparkle.

Our biodegradable glitter is meant to be used as a topper only, sprinkled onto the surface of your soap after pouring rather than mixed directly into the batter. Always check the individual product listing for its approved use before adding it to a project.

Mica glitters, on the other hand, can be used in both cold process and melt and pour soap to create sparkle throughout the bar, not just on the surface.
