Black Brazilian Natural Clay

I needed some black soap for a project I am working on. I add the Black Brazilian Clay (BBC) first to see how the batter looked with just the clay. It was almost as black as the Activated Charcoal (AC) gives me, not quite as black but almost. I went ahead and add AC to get it up to the black color needed. The acceleration of trace was minimal and the soap turned out great. I will definitely be using this in the future with my darker soaps I want clay in and I will purchase BBC again. Update: I have added a picture of a test batch of soap I made using the various clays I had on hand. The second layer down is made with BBC. I mixed 1.25 tsp of BBC with 1 tbsp of distilled water. I added this mixture to approximately 6 oz of CP soap batter. It came out fairly black with just a hint of brown. For comparison I have added a picture of the striped soap up against a block of CP soap I made with AC and BBC. You can definitely see the brownish tinge in the one that only uses BBC for colorant in the comparison picture.

Color is great and mixes well with oils

This clay was a wonderful addition to a charcoal soap that I make. It adds a silky glide and has a wonderful lather.

Used this in my melt and pour soap and it worked wonderfully. Anchored the scent well and great slip. I was even able to use the soap for shaving and left my skin smooth . Highly recommend.

I have used clays in soap for a long time, but have never seen a “black” before now. At 2t pp (on left), it has a very dark mocha brown appearance almost imperceptible in the photo to its brother, charcoal, on right. Where the clay leans brown, the charcoal leans blue. Good option if you don’t want to use mica.

I used this in My Bourbon Street soap for the first time and it was beautiful! I did not expect such a deep dark color to come from a clay...it was an excellent accent color to the mushroom brown and Kashmir blue I used... not to mention the benefits you get from adding a natural clay to your soap. I will be using this often in place of black mica.

Nurture's natural colorants are an excellent quality. The clays are a gorgeous texture and maintain their color through the cure. Very pleased with all of the clays I have tried.

Black Brazilian Clay is now one of my new favorites to use in my activated charcoal soap. Adding it gives a lovely silky slip to the finished bar.

I absolutely love this clay from Nurture Soap! It is a Smokey or charcoal brown in cold-processed soap. I often add cacao powder or activated charcoal to get variations or a more vibrant color. Gel it and WOW just WOW! I have tried all these Brazilian clays from Nurture Soap and 100% happy, well price could be more palatable for sure. Still I have to say these clays are wonderful!

Makes a nice grayish black soap. Next time I will add charcoal to deepen.

I love this in my darker soaps. I can add clay without lightening up my colors. I can also use it to darken other clays.

So nice to have a natural black alternative to activated charcoal. Easier to darken other clays for an ombre. Adds a lovely slip in CP.
