CA Proposition 65 Information

Colorants in powder form that contain titanium dioxide carry a California Proposition 65 warning.

What the Warning Covers

Titanium dioxide is on the Proposition 65 list as "airborne, unbound particles of respirable size." The listing concerns inhaling loose powder, not the finished product. Once the powder is mixed into a liquid or solid base it is no longer airborne, and the warning does not apply to the finished soap or cosmetic.

What We Sell

We offer titanium dioxide in non-nano particle size only. In soap making it is used as a white pigment and opacifier: it brightens bars, makes colors read more pastel or more vivid, and gives an opaque look in both cold process and melt and pour soap. Handle the dry powder as you would any fine powder: avoid raising dust, and wear a mask when working with it in quantity.
