Your recipe
Bring in a recipe or fill in what goes in your soap. We list each ingredient by its percentage of the batch, highest first, with the names that go on a soap label.
Made your recipe in our Lye Calculator or Soap Cost Calculator? Click Make an ingredient list on either page and it comes straight in here. Tip: recipes you save in the Lye Calculator show up here too.

How the list is built: ingredients are listed by their percentage of the batch, highest first, with colors at the end (anything at 1% or less may also go in any order after the rest). "As they go in the pot" lists your oils, water and lye (sodium or potassium hydroxide) as you weigh them in. "As soap" lists what they become: the soap of each oil (like Sodium Olivate), water and glycerin. "Saponified oils of…" isn't an accepted ingredient name on a cosmetic label, so we don't use it. Plants are named in plain English with the Latin name in brackets, and colors by their FDA names, with each part of a blended color (like a mica) listed. In the US, soap sold only for cleaning is regulated by the CPSC; once you make skin claims like "moisturizing" it is a cosmetic and these FDA rules apply. This is a starting point, not legal advice: check the rules where you sell, and check any names we didn't recognize. For the full rules, see the FDA's Frequently Asked Questions on Soap and the CPSC's Soap Business Guidance.
