Nurture Soap Is Now Nurture Handmade Find Out Why

Sodium Lactate

$8.00
Size

Sodium lactate is an amazing ingredient in all types of skincare. In soaps, it creates a harder bar that lasts longer in the shower. It also helps in making the unmolding of soaps easier from the soap mold. It is truly a must-have ingredient for any soap maker! Sodium lactate is a liquid salt derived from sugars such as beets and corn. We adore this ingredient and use it in all of our soaps at Nurture!

The recommended usage rate of sodium lactate for cold process soaps is 1 teaspoon per pound of oils. Sodium lactate is also used in hot process soaps toward the end of the cook to create a more fluid soap that easier to get into the soap mold.

When using sodium lactate, add it to your cooled lye water.

Horrible

I made a new batch of a soap I usually make every other day. The only thing different was that I used this new sodium lactate. My soap will not harden at all. What a waste of money - not only for the product, but all the other items that went into it.

We're so sorry you had trouble with this! We use this sodium lactate in every batch of soap we make when testing fragrances and colors and have never had any issues with soap not hardening! Please feel free to contact us if you would like to troubleshoot to see what might have caused this problem!

Sodium Lactate

Loaves unmold better with sodium lactate than without. This is the only sodium lactate I buy and use.
