I am brand new to CP soaping. Yesterday was the first time I've used a mica for colorant. I wanted a subtle green color for the 100% coconut milk soap I made yesterday. For the 1,440 gms of oils the recipe called for, I used one-half tsp of the Emerald Green mica and two tsp of white kaolin clay. I am surprised at how little mica it takes to color a 15-bar tall and skinny mold full of soap batter! I'm not qualified to rate this colorant against anything else, due to my lack of experience. But it mixed easily (into a couple tsp of Sweet Almond oil, as the carrier), looked very flashy when mixed, and came out the color I was looking for. I used no titanium dioxide; only the white kaolin clay which was enough 'white' to make the color a pastel green. I won't be able to cut it for another couple of days; it's still pretty soft. I did NOT insulate this (even though you can see a towel around the mold) and so it did NOT go through gel phase. I already made that mistake a few days ago with a 50% goat milk soap I made. I can hardly wait to try the TRIAL BY FIRE, I've read great things about this colorant.
