Color Testing Notes

Purple Vibrance Mica is a true classic. It’s one of the most reliable and consistent purples we carry. When used at 2 teaspoons per pound of oils, it produces a beautiful, true purple that’s hard to beat. If you’ve ever struggled to get a good purple in cold process soap, this one won’t let you down!

Use Rate

CP Soap: 1-2 teaspoons per pound of oils.
MP Soap: .5 teaspoon per pound of soap base.

More or less can be added to achieve your desired color.

Use Notes

Purple Vibrance stays true in cold process soap with no fading or morphing. Use rate is 1-2 tsp. per pound of oils. To get the best color avoid using yellow or green oils. A soap with as white a base as possible will have the best color. Gelling can really help this color pop!

Pretty in purple

Nurture soap micas are so fun to use. The colors are true and don’t morph like some of the off brands I have tried online. They just make me want to soap all day every day so I can try another color and design. The darker color is Purple Vibrance and the lighter purple is Iris Purple. Both lovely flower colors.

Nice Purple

Purple tends to be a hard color to predict and attached is a picture of a small test batch I made using the purples I had on hand. The top layer is Purple Vibrance. I used 1/4 tsp of mica in 8 grams of olive oil. This was added to about 170 grams of batter. Batter contained these oils: avocado, grapeseed, rice bran, castor, coconut, palm, olive, plus lard and kokum butter. I was soaping in a cold area and batter and lye solution was in the low 80's so I think that is where the white specks came from. For comparison the middle layer is Brambleberry Lilac and the bottom is Brambleberry Queen's Purple. Each color was made the same way and added to the same amount of batter. I like all three. I tend to have to use a lot more purple mica (any brand) if I want the color to be a deeper richer purple . I will purchase Purple Vibrance again.

Lavender Beer Soap is one of our biggest sellers. We use the purple vibrance to make our design and the color never bleeds into the pearly white soap and keeps bright and "vibrant" as the soap ages!
