Product Details

No lye, no soap, it's as simple as that! Sodium hydroxide is the essential ingredient that makes true soapmaking possible, and ours comes in bead form. We prefer beads because they're easier to work with than flakes: they dissolve faster and pour out of the container more easily. If you run into static while measuring, a quick wipe of your container with a dryer sheet will solve it. Our lye is sourced right here in the USA and comes in at 99.2% purity.

It's worth remembering that in its pure form, lye is caustic, so handle it with care and always follow proper safety precautions. Once it's combined with oils and water, the chemical reaction of saponification takes over, and when a recipe is measured and mixed correctly, no lye remains in your finished bar of soap.
