Glitter

Our biodegradable glitter is made from precision-cut flakes of a plant-derived film: primarily corn starch, with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and a thin polyurethane layer for sparkle, finished with a cosmetic-grade pigment. Per our supplier's Safety Data Sheet, the film is 97% soluble in water at room temperature.

Biodegradable glitter is cut from a plant-cellulose film that dissolves in water and breaks down over time, so it is used as a topper, sprinkled on the surface of finished soap and crafts. Mica glitter is mineral based and does not dissolve, so it can go into the batter and keeps its sparkle through cure. The approved-use row on each product page lists the FDA-approved uses for that glitter: many mica glitters are approved for bath bombs and general body use, while the biodegradable glitters are not approved for eye, lip, bath bomb or body products.
