PureScent Suspected Ingredient List
Some fragrance ingredients are classified as suspected carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins (CMRs): early research has raised a possible concern that still needs further study. A suspected ingredient is different from a known CMR, which no PureScent oil contains at all.
PureScent oils may contain a suspected ingredient. When one does, we name it on that oil's product page in a line that reads “This fragrance contains…” so you can decide for yourself. PureScent+ oils contain none of the ingredients below.
How an ingredient makes this list
An ingredient is listed if any of these classify it as a suspected CMR (GHS Category 2: H341, H351, or H361):
- Supplier SDS: the ingredient classification our fragrance supplier prints in Section 3 of its safety data sheets.
- EU notifiers (ECHA): the classification most companies notify to the European Chemicals Agency.
- Industry clean-fragrance list: ingredients named as suspected by other clean-fragrance programs, based on the fragrance industry's RIFM safety reviews.
Some suspected ingredients occur naturally in essential oils. gamma-Terpinene and p-cymene, for example, are natural parts of citrus and herb oils, and we name them whether they were added or came from a natural oil.
