Color Testing Notes

Blackberry Mica can be a tricky one to work with in cold process soap, so I don’t usually recommend it for that use. It performs much better in clear melt and pour bases, where its color really shines, and it also looks beautiful in resin. In cold process soap, the purple tones tend to fade, leaving more of a smoky gray appearance. To solve this, I created a new color that’s much more stable for achieving a rich dark purple - check out our custom color, Edge of Night Mica.

Use Rate

CP Soap: 1-2 teaspoons per pound of oils.
MP Soap: .5 teaspoon per pound of soap base.

More or less can be added to achieve your desired color.

Use Notes

As with most dark purples, this color can be a bit tricky in cold process soaps. At times you may get a rich amethyst color, and other times it may turn smoky gray. We suggest testing this in your recipe in making CP soap to see how it works for you. This color is stunning in melt and pour soap!

Once incorporated into a liquid or solid base it is no longer airborne and falls off the Prop 65 list.

One of my very favorite colors here. Very pretty!

Perfect blackberry color

This mica is a true blackberry color. It's also gorgeous miixed with a bright pink so you can see a bit more of the purple hue. The darker color in the photo is the mica on its own, the lighter is mixed with just a little of what I believe is pink vibrance.

The Perfect Blackberry!

One of my best sellers is Black Raspberry Vanilla soap made with Nuture Soaps fragrance. And of course I have to top it with black raspberry
embeds made with this mica. It perfect!

It is a very deep color. It seems to be black. I added a little bit of purple and Still it was almost like black.

I just made a batch and can’t say enough about this color- it’s so multi dimensional on its own but also did a 1:1 blend with Berry Twist for contrast. I can’t wait to see the cut but I think this is my new favorite!

Makes the Perfect Blackberries

This color is so beautiful. I love how rich and dark it is. My top selling soap is Blackberry Tangerine and the blackberry mica is the perfect color for it. I use it in melt and pour soap to make my embeds and use it in cold process soap. I love how dark and shimmering it is. My blackberries look so real everytime I make them.

Dark

This is definitely almost like a black shiny color. Very pretty I used it for a galaxy looking soap.

Purple black

This is a black that gives a purplish hew. Is really pretty. The photo is the result of a overheated sample, but the color is still shiny and beautiful.

Am I using this wrong…

I tried this in CP soap and melt and pour. The dark swirl in the CP soap in the first picture is supposed to be the BlackBerry color. The dark drizzle on the top of the second picture is the BlackBerry color in melt and pour. I’ll not sure why it’s coming out so dark and grey/black and not “berry” at all.

This one is tricky and it does sometimes turn out more dark gray than purple. We do suggest testing it in a small batch first to be sure you like how it looks in your recipe!

Awesome dark purple

I was a little worried this was going to go brown or grey in CP but it stayed true. Love it. I get lots of requests for blackberry fragrances soap so having a standardized mica I don't have to mix myself is a luxury.

Not for me in CP soap

Not for me in CP soap BUT I love to paint bath bombs and color embeds with it! I absolutely love how this mica truly shines when used in these applications! It is a must have for me. Used in the embed shown in picture below.

Gorgeous Mica

This is an absolutely gorgeous mica, but do read the use notes and use the Nurture Soap Color Blender tool.
This is one of my favorite micas both for blending and using on its own. On its own in cp soap blackberry can have a dark grey purple look, which is great alternative to standard black. In the soaps below, using a very white base I made one ombre ciaglia soap with blackberry and oleander, and one ciaglia ombre soap with 3:1 blackberry: vibrant purple and oleander. All the colors intentionally have grey and black mini confetti mixed in which darkens the overall look, but the result is still gorgeous.

When I first mixed this in my soap I was a little disappointed, I was expecting it to be more of a purple. When I cut my loaf I was very pleased. It made a beautiful contrasting color! Now I love it
